South Ripley 47 Milan 39.
The host Raiders outscored the Indians 13-5 in the fourth quarter during an intense battle in the opening game of the 2016 SEI boys tourney. The Raiders took a 25-20 lead into halftime, only to see the fiesty Indians tie the game 34-34 at the end of third quarter on a three-pointer by Carter Wade. Dakota Day scored 7 points in the decisive 4th quarter to help the Indians survive and advance to Tuesday’s game against the winner of East Central and Batesville.
Wade led Milan with 15 points, with Zach Lewis scoring 10 and Matthew Steinmetz adding 9 points. Day topped South Ripley with 15 points to go along with 12 rebounds, while Kaleb Rinear scored 15 points and 9 rebounds; Eric Vickers scored 6 points and led the team with 13 rebounds; Connor McCarty and Jon Adkins each scored 4; Aaron Greiwe and Jacob Elliott added 2 each.
South Ripley won the 7th grade game versus Milan and will also advance to the semi-final round tomorrow night. The South Ripley 7th grade team improves to 15-1 while the 8th graders are now 12-4.
Tuesday’s games will played at Milan Middle School, with the 7th grade tip-off slated for 5:30.
