INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana BMV is asking hundreds of Hoosiers to return money they were refunded as part of excise tax overcharges.
The state agency reportedly overpaid about $60,000 to 254 customers. A mailed letter was sent to affected drivers urging them to return the excessive payments.
BMV officials announced in September that 180,000 Hoosiers who registered vehicles since 2004 are entitled to refunds estimated to total $29 million.
