EC volleyball traveled to Lawrenceburg tonight. Varsity lost in four with the scores of 25-20, 23-25, 25-23, 25-22.
It was a rough night. We had our moments when it looked like we were going to push ahead and then we fell apart. Our passing was off tonight and it caused major problems for us offensively. Our hitters couldn’t get into a rhythm and Lawrenceburg capitalized on that.
‘A loss is tough, but one thing I was reminded about with this team is how much they care. They wanted that win more than anything and take it personally when things didn’t go our way. They want nothing more than their best every time they step on the court. We didn’t get that tonight, but we have so much to learn from it. I have no doubt that we will bounce back. It may be one step backward tonight, but I believe in this team and believe that we will take 3 steps forward, starting tomorrow!’ EC Coach Cassie Laker.
Varsity is now 15-6 on the season and 8-1 in conference play.
Next up: Teach appreciation night at home on Thursday against Connersville.
EC Freshman won in three last night. Scores 19-25, 25-24,15-10.
This was a challenging and exciting evening. The first game we came out timid and letting too many plays get away from us. We played similarly at the start of game two, but at point 10 everything changed. These girls tripled their intensity, stepped up to the challenge and put in their all. Lawrenceburg came to play and had an intense will to win. They truly pushed us and brought the girls to a whole new level of play.
In game two and every point of game three, EC Freshman showed everyone how badly they wanted to win this game. I am beyond proud of their efforts. Not only did they step up to the challenge when teams might fold in frustration, they encouraged one another every point and they played off each other and the crowd’s intensity. They listened to their coaches and were focused on the mental game of volleyball. I am very thankful to be a part of this team.
EC Freshman are 9-0. Next game is the EIAC tournament this Saturday starting at 9am at Batesville. Then we play Harrison, September 29th at home at 5pm.
