Comprehensive Plan Gets the Green Light

(Greensburg, IN) – Decatur County Commissioners unanimously approved the Comprehensive Plan this week.

The 277-page plan includes 17 chapters and covers Decatur County except for the City of Greensburg and the Town of St. Paul, and will guide future decisions on land use, development, community facilities, open spaces, and transportation.

One of the highlights of the document is discouraging development on farm land, in particular for alternative energy sites.

The Commissioners’ action follows a process of creating and drafting the document that kicked off a year ago this month, and included public meetings, input from an array of businesses, organizations and stakeholders, and hundreds of online survey responses.

Twenty-two steering committee members were involved.

The entire comprehensive plan can be read on decaturcounty.in.gov.
