(Greensburg, IN) – The community is invited to attend Veterans Appreciation Night on Friday, November 13, during the North Decatur at Greensburg girls’ basketball game.
Organizers say the event will bring the community together to honor, thank, and support those who have served the nation, recognizing the contributions of local veterans during a special evening.
Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) says it is partnering with American Legion Post #129, the Decatur County Community Foundation, Decatur County Veteran Service Office, and Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home to organize the event and recognize local veterans, who will be admitted to the game for free.
Veterans are asked to meet Ken Mobley, Veterans Service Officer, at the Veterans Table outside the gym at 6:45 p.m. to check in and prepare for the ceremony, which will take place around 7 p.m. between the JV and varsity contests.
Invitations have been extended to the athletic directors at all three Decatur County schools, including South Decatur High School, to encourage participation and extend the opportunity to honor local veterans beyond the two schools competing that evening.
DCMH says the public is encouraged to attend, cheer on the North Decatur and Greensburg girls’ basketball teams, and join in recognizing the men and women who have served our country, and help make Veterans Appreciation Night a meaningful tribute to local veterans.
