ONTARIO COUNTY, NY – The investigation into the fatal incident involving NASCAR driver Tony Stewart striking and killing a fellow driver has completed, and a prosecutor is now reviewing the findings.
The county district attorney’s office is expected to announce next week whether charges will be filed against Stewart.
The dirt track incident involved driver Kevin Ward Jr., 20, crashing into the fence when the two drivers were racing side by side. Ward climbed out of his car and was walking along the track when he was fatally struck by Stewart’s car.
The race was held at the Canandaigua Motorsports Park dirt track in upstate New York August 9.
