The Indianapolis Colts have begun the search for a general manager after the team fired Chris Ballard on Monday. The move came one day after the Colts blew a 13-0 halftime lead and lost 26-20 at home to the previously-winless Tennessee Titans. Indianapolis is now 2-4 on the year. Ballard became general manager in 2017. The Colts haven’t made the playoffs since 2020 or won the AFC South during Ballard’s 10 seasons as general manager. Assistant GM Ed Dodds will oversee the team’s personnel department, while head coach Shane Steichen and his assistants will report to ownership.

In college basketball, former Purdue star Trey Kaufman-Renn has signed with Kansas. Kaufman-Renn was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2026 NBA Draft, and won a preliminary injunction earlier this month that allowed him to receive one more year of college eligibility. The 6’9″ forward is expected to start in the front court this season for the Jayhawks. But the NCAA could appeal the injunction, which would cast uncertainty over Kaufman-Renn’s eligibility.
