Evelyn Irene Anderson, 98, Dillsboro

Evelyn Irene Anderson, age 98, of Dillsboro, Indiana, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of love that will continue for generations.

Born on February 6, 1928, in Houston, Texas, Evelyn was the daughter of George Washington Wilden. Having lived through the Great Depression and Dust Bowl era, Evelyn learned the value of hard work, perseverance, and determination at an early age. Although her formal education ended after the eighth grade, something she always wished she could have continued, she gained a lifetime of wisdom through her experiences.

At just 14 years old, Evelyn married the love of her life, Edson Anderson. Together, they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage and raised three children: Ellen Beeler, James Anderson, and Billy Don Anderson. Their love became the foundation of a beautiful family spanning five generations.

Evelyn was a happy, outgoing woman who never met a stranger. She was feisty, fiercely independent, hardworking, and never afraid to speak her mind. A fighter throughout her entire life, she faced every challenge with strength and determination, carrying that same fighting spirit until the very end.

Evelyn and Edson shared a love for adventure, traveling across the country in their RV, with their trips to Alaska holding a special place in their memories. She also enjoyed spending time in Florida before eventually settling permanently in Indiana. Evelyn loved fishing, listening to Alan Jackson, watching NASCAR and golf, and spending time with her beloved dogs, Tiny and Hershey.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her father, George Washington Wilden; her beloved husband, Edson Anderson; her son, James Anderson; and her son-in-law, Joe Beeler.

She is survived by her children, Ellen Beeler and Billy Don (Debbie) Anderson; daughter-in-law, Linda Anderson; and grandchildren, Jodi (Kelly) Mollaun, Rusty (Suzanne) Beeler, Tracy Anderson, Christy (Mike) Rose, Stacy (Jason) Lewis, Jamie (Jarrod) Disch, Erin (Dustin) Thomas, Megan (Mike) Lunsford, and Zach (Katie) Anderson.

She also leaves behind 20 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren, with one more on the way, who will continue to carry her love, strength, and legacy through generations to come.

Throughout her 98 years, Evelyn witnessed a world of change, experienced countless adventures, and touched the lives of so many. She will be remembered for her warm personality, her determination, her love for family, and the unforgettable spirit that made her who she was.

She lived fiercely, loved deeply, traveled far, and fought until the very end. Her fight may be over, but her spirit and the love she shared will live on forever.
