Suspected LES Measles Case Negative

(Laurel, IN) – Test results for a potential measles case at Laurel Elementary School we told you about last week have come back negative.

In a communication to school families over the weekend, Superintendent Dustin Gehring thanked the Laurel Elementary School Nurse Samantha Rogers; administrators such as Principal Andrew Meyer, Guidance Counselor Pam Gutzwiller, Secretary/Extracurricular Activities Treasurer Crystal Vestal; and school staff “…for their diligence and commitment to serving students and families during a difficult situation,” he said in a written statement.

He also expressed appreciation to the Franklin County Health Department and, in particular, county health officer Dr. David Welsh.

“I appreciate your willingness to work late into the night to ensure we received the most updated information,” Gehring said.
