At the IHSAA girls golf state finals at Battle Ground Golf Course in Lafayette, Batesville’s Stella Maple finished tied for 20th after shooting an individual 79 on Friday and a 78 on Saturday. Maple earned a spot on the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association All-State team. Her Bulldog teammate Alexis Gallagher rounded out her high school career by finishing at 71 with scores of 91 on Friday and 87 on Saturday.

Batesville cross country took part in the Nike Twilight Invitational in Terre Haute on Saturday evening. Ryan Benz led the Bulldog boys with a 51st place finish and a new personal best of 17:32. As a team, the BHS boys finished 14th with 381 points. The Batesville girls were paced by Jayla Bedel, who came in 73rd with a personal best time of 19:05. As a team, the Bulldog girls were 33rd with 844.

Batesville Middle School cross country participated in the state meet on Saturday. The Bulldog girls team finished 11th out 47 teams in the Small School Varsity Division. The BMS boys were 24th out of 54.

The Jacksonville Jaguars knocked off the Cincinnati Bengals 22-17 in NFL action yesterday at Paycor Stadium. Joe Burrow completed 39 of 54 passes for 428 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Burrow also ran for a score. All-Pro wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase left the game in the first half with a concussion. Tee Higgins had  11 catches for 157 yards, but suffered an adductor injury while making a catch in the 4th quarter. The Bengals running game mustered only 23 yards on the afternoon. The Indianapolis Colts went across the pond and beat the Washington Commanders 30-13 in London, England. Jonathan Taylor had 20 carries for 95 yards and two touchdowns. With the win, the Colts square their record at 2-2.
