Luella Rose Knueven, 106, of Greensburg, Indiana, passed peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg.
Luella was born on March 10, 1920, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of Francis A. “Frank” and Matilda R. (Hoffbauer) Hoff. At a young age, she moved with her family to New Alsace, Indiana, where she attended St. Paul Catholic Elementary School and Guilford High School. She later returned to Indianapolis to attend beautician school.
On May 11, 1946, Luella married Clifford P. “Dick” Knueven. They shared 62 years of marriage together until his passing on June 23, 2008.
Luella was a hardworking woman who spent much of her life working alongside her husband in the grocery business. She retired in 1982 and enjoyed many years of traveling with Dick in their motorhome. Together, they traveled throughout the United States, visiting all 48 contiguous states. Luella also enjoyed spending her winters in Florida as a snowbird.
In her leisure time, Luella enjoyed making quilts and crafts, working puzzles, playing cards and bingo, and spending time on her iPad. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her family and the many memories they made together.
Luella was a former member of St. Paul Campus of All Saints Parish and was a current member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg. She was also a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary in New Alsace.
Luella is survived by her son, Robert (Mary Beth) Knueven; grandson, Matt Knueven; granddaughter, Annie George, and great grandchildren, Ben and Elizabeth; daughter, Mary (Robert) Richards; grandson, Scott (Jennifer) Richards, and great grandchildren, Robert and Katherine; and grandson, David (Megan) Richards, and great grandchildren, Sidney and Samuel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford P. “Dick” Knueven; and her parents, Francis A. “Frank” and Matilda R. Hoff.
Family and friends will gather to pray the Rosary at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1331 E. Hunter Robbins Way, Greensburg, Indiana. Visitation will follow from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Graveside services will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, 9788 N. Dearborn Road, Guilford, Indiana at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Luella’s memory to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, All Saints Parish – St. Paul Campus, or Interim Hospice.
