In other games around the area, Greensburg knocked off South Dearborn 40-13; Lawrenceburg rolled over Franklin County 42-7; Milan destroyed Edinburgh 69-0; North Decatur ripped Switzerland County 42-6; South Decatur blanked Brown County 49-0; and it was Connersville 54, Rushville 7.
The Cincinnati Reds edged the Chicago Cubs 6-4 in the series opener last night at Great American Ball Park. Jose Trevino’s two-run bases loaded single in the 6th inning propelled the Reds to the victory. Julian Aguiar (1-0) gets the win in relief. Emilio Pagan notched his 24th save. The middle game of the series is tonight, and a pair of lefthanders are the scheduled starting pitchers. Nick Lodolo (3-5, 5.12 ERA) goes for Cincinnati; the Cubs counter with Matthew Boyd (8-5, 4.16 ERA). Coverage begins at 6:10 on 103.9 FM.
The Indiana Fever returned from the FIBA World Cup hiatus by knocking off the Toronto Tempo 103-85 in WNBA action north of the border. Kelsey Mitchell scored 33 points to a new WNBA season mark. She now has 1,034 points on the year. Caitlin Clark added 28 points and a season-high 14 assists. The Fever returns home tomorrow to face the Washington Mystics. Tipoff is at 4 p.m.
In college football on this Saturday, 4th-ranked Indiana is home against Western Kentucky; #3 Notre Dame welcomes Michigan State; and Purdue opens Big Ten play at UCLA.
