(Greensburg, IN) — Decatur County Recycling will hold a tires-only collection Saturday, Sept. 12, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Decatur County Fairgrounds.
The event is for Decatur County residents only. Businesses will not be accepted, and all tires must be removed from their rims before they are brought to the collection site.
Stephanie Field with Decatur County Recycling said no toxic or other household hazardous waste items will be accepted Saturday.
That includes oil, batteries, lightbulbs, paint and electronics. Field emphasized that Saturday’s event is for tires only.
Those other materials will be collected at a later date at Decatur County Recycling’s new facility at 200 S. Monfort St. in Greensburg.
Field said the organization hopes to open the new facility in late October or early November. An exact opening date and information about future collection events will be announced later.
Decatur County Recycling is also updating its website. Residents are encouraged to follow the organization’s Facebook page for the latest information and any changes.
