Mr. Milford Mahlon Williams, age 94, of Jefferson and Switzerland County, Indiana, entered this life on April 5, 1932 in Osgood, Indiana. He was the son of the late Glenn Adolph and Martha Clementine (Rayburn) Williams. He was raised in Ripley County, Indiana and was a 1949 graduate of Holton High School. Milford was united in marriage in 1950 to Ruth Myrna Gilbert and this union was blessed with one son, Roy. In 1956, Milford was inducted into the United States Army, beginning what would become a distinguished military career spanning more than two decades. He completed his basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia, and proudly served his country both statewide and overseas, including service in Germany and during the Vietnam War. Through his dedication, leadership, and commitment to his fellow soldiers, Milford rose through the ranks and retired from the United States Army on May 31, 1979, with the distinguished rank of First Sergeant. Throughout his military career, Milford received numerous decorations and honors in recognition of his faithful service, including the U.S. Army Parachutist Badge, The Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Engineer Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Three U.S. Army Overseas Service Bars, Bronze Star Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal 5th Award, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal First Class, and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation. Milford took great pride in serving his country, and his many years in uniform reflected the discipline, perseverance, and strong work ethic that remained a part his character throughout his life. Milford was united in marriage on April 21, 1957 to Clara Horn at the Union Flat Rock Baptist Church in Ripley County, Indiana. Their union of over 50 years was blessed with one son, Gregory and one daughter, Cathy. Following his military retirement, Milford continued his strong work ethic as a machine operator for Delta Faucet in Greensburg, Indiana. After 16 years of dedicated service, he retired in 1995. Milford later found companionship and happiness with Carol Ann (Lee) Holder, and they were united in marriage on July 12, 2008 at the Cedar Creek Community Church in Osgood, Indiana. Milford and Carol shared over 18 wonderful years of marriage together until his passing. He was a former member of the Keene-Henneke VFW Post #9987 in Napoleon, Indiana. Milford was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church in Fairview, Indiana, as well as The Gideons International. Milford was the happiest when he could stay busy and work with his hands, and enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to his garden, working in the yard, and mowing. He also had a natural love for anything mechanical and could often be found tinkering with cars or working on one project or another. Whether caring for his property, repairing something that needed attention, or simply enjoying the outdoors, Milford was never one to sit idle for very long. The lessons of dedication, perseverance, service, and faith that guided his 94 years of life will remain a lasting legacy for his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Milford passed away at 1:21 p.m., Thursday September 10, 2026, at Norton King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison, Indiana.
Milford will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Carol Ann (Lee) Holder Williams of Brooksburg, IN; his son, Roy Glenn Williams and his wife, Laura of San Clemente, CA, and Gregory Williams and his wife, Beverly of New Point, IN; his daughter, Cathy Jo Sizemore and her husband, Daryle of Osgood, IN; his step daughters, Michelle Reynolds and her husband, Robert of Brooksburg, IN, and Susan Brown and her husband, Robert of Randleman, NC; his grandchildren, Jacob Williams, Amber Baldwin (Ryan), Yesod Williams (Adrianne), and Amanda Scott (John); his great-grandchildren, Devin Scott, June Scott, Reed Baldwin, Olivia Baldwin, Cy Williams, and one baby girl on the way; his step-grandchildren, Adam Archer (Carly), John David Vollat, and Robert Vollat; his step-great-grandchildren, Halle, Adalyn, Beckham, Jett, Hudson, and Poppy Archer; his sisters, Beverly Newlin and her husband, Charles of Osgood, IN, and Carolyn Sue Newlin of Nineveh, IN; and his several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Adolph Williams, died August 17, 1994; his mother, Martha Clementine (Rayburn) Williams, died March 31, 2008; his former wife, Clara (Horn) Williams, died July 18, 2007; his brother, Gerald Dale Williams, died October 11, 2012; his step-grandson, Derek Alan Archer, died May 2, 2018; his brother-in-law, John B. Newlin, died March 21, 2017; his sister-in-law, Carolyn Ann (Schlotman) Williams, died May 21, 2020; and his niece, Beth (Williams) Kraus, died October 7, 2020.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2026, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment and full military rites will be conducted in the Union Flat Rock Cemetery, 9738 West Flatrock Road, Osgood, Indiana 47037.
