Janet Carol Russell, 79, passed away on September 8, 2026, in Aurora, Indiana.
Janet was born on October 2, 1946, in Milan, Indiana, to Robert and Callie (Gabbard) Billingsley.
Carol loved collecting antiques, especially kerosene heaters, crock bowls, and old cooking jars. She also loved her jewelry. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family and was especially grateful that she was able to be home with her children as they were growing up and later with her grandchildren. Janet was also a member of Hope Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Callie Billingsley; brothers, James Billingsley and Sonny Billingsley; and sisters, JoAnn Young and Phyllis Siekerman. Son-in-law Brian Cassidy.
Carol is survived by her husband, George Edward Russell; her children, Sherry Burton and husband Jeff, Angie Calhoun and husband Jesse, and Leslie Cassidy, Lynn (Tom) Allen; grandchildren, Samantha Burton, Jeffery (Brandon) Burton, Jordan (Laini) Burton, and Jacob Burton, Jessica Calhoun and Hailey (Chase) Key, and Corbin and Callie Cassidy; Great grandson Niko Key.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, Indiana 47001. A service will follow at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Tom Holt officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Sinai Cemetery in Aurora, Indiana.
