UPDATE: House Fire Victims ID’d

UPDATE: The two people who died in last Sunday’s house fire on the 5700 block of County Road 1000 West have been identified by the Decatur County Coroner’s Office.

They are 51-year-old Lincoln K. Allen and 54-year-old Tamara Jo Shireman.

The state fire marshal’s office is still investigating the cause of that blaze.

“Decatur County first responders extend their sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of Lincoln K. Allen and Tamara Jo Shireman during this difficult time,” reads a statement released by the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office.

(Decatur County, IN) – Two people are dead following a house fire in Decatur County early Sunday morning.

The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office says a 9-1-1 caller reported the fire at 5715 South County Road 1000 West around 12:30 a.m.

The home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.

As crews began efforts to put out the flames, two people were located in the home, and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The names of the victims are not being released pending notification of family members.

Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control around 2 a.m.

The sheriff’s office says additional information will be released when it becomes available and at the appropriate time.

The Burney/Clay Township, Westport, Letts and Hartsville volunteer fire departments plus the Greensburg Fire Department responded.

Agencies providing assistance included Decatur County Communications; Decatur County EMS; the Decatur County Coroner’s Office; Decatur County REMC; the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Decatur County Crisis Intervention Team.
