Ray Rickett, 88, of Madison

Ray Rickett, 88, of Madison passed away at 10:50 a.m., Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at the home of his son near Cross Plains. He was born at Gatliff in Whitley County, Kentucky on February 19, 1938, the son of Herschel and Flora Peace Rickett. He was married to Mary Osborne on February 23, 1963 and she preceded him in death on April 13, 2026. Survivors include two sons Doyle (Pam) Rickett of Moorefield and Rob (Shannon) Rickett of Cross Plains; two daughters Debra (Thomas) Hall of Royal Oak, Michigan and Dena Fuller of Lawrenceburg; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; one sister Maxine (Herman) Medlin of Tennessee. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Maurice and Herschel Rickett, Jr., and his sister Nadine Bearden. Mr. Rickett was a 1956 graduate of Evarts (Ky) High School. Ray served with the US Marines from 1957 to 1964 as a Corporal with Company L of the 3rd Battalion. He qualified as a marksman with both the rifle and pistol. In civilian life Ray spent his career as a union carpenter in the Madison area. He enjoyed shooting pool and fishing. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 9th at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. David Blazier officiating. Burial will be in the Indiana Veteran Cemetery at Madison with military rites by the Milan American Legion.  Visitation will also be on Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m. Memorials may be given to the Milan American Legion in care of the funeral home.
