Batesville girls cross country finished first (19 points) and East Central came in second (64) in the division one race at the 29-team Rushville Invitational on Saturday. Bulldog sophomore Ava Wade was the individual champion with a time of 19:47. North Decatur came in fourth (61) in the girls division two race. In the boys portion, Batesville was second (66) and East Central fourth (93) in division one. North Decatur posted a fourth place (115) finish in division two.

Five area girls golf teams competed at the 13-school Connersville Invitational on Saturday. Batesville placed second (377) while Franklin County was fifth (397), Greensburg sixth (410), East Central came in eighth (465), and North Decatur finished ninth (470).

Batesville volleyball knocked off Connersville in three sets on Saturday. Scores were 25-14, 25-20, 25-23.

Batesville boys tennis got past Centerville three sets to two. The Bulldogs improve to 3-2.

The Cincinnati Reds upended the Chicago Cubs 7-5 in the series finale at Wrigley Field heard last night on WRBI. Chase Burns notched his 15th win. He went 5 2/3 innings, allowed two earned runs on five hits with one walk and seven strikeouts. Hector Rodriguez, Dane Myers, Tyler Stephenson and Sal Stewart homered for Cincinnati, which takes two out of three games in the series. The Reds open a six-game homestand with the first of three tonight against the San Diego Padres. Brady Singer (5-12, 4.72 ERA) makes the start for Cincinnati. Coverage begins at 6:40 on 103.9 FM following Coaches Corner.

Pato O’Ward won both the rain-delayed and regularly-scheduled IndyCar NTT races at the Milwaukee Mile on Sunday. More history was made when Alex Palou clinched his fourth consecutive and fifth overall NTT series championship.
