(Indianapolis, IN) — The Indiana Fever are teaming with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund to turn Friday night’s game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse into a fundraiser for breast cancer screenings and preventive education.
The Fever’s Pink for Purpose Night, presented by Ascension St. Vincent, is Friday, Aug. 28.
The team and Kay Yow Cancer Fund have launched an online auction featuring game-worn Fever shooting shirts and sneakers. The Fever hope to raise $25,000, which will be matched by the Kay Yow Cancer Fund for a total goal of $50,000.
The auction runs through 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29. Proceeds will support Ascension St. Vincent programs that provide breast cancer screenings and preventive education to women in underserved communities across Central Indiana.
Money raised through the partnership will also support the Ascension St. Vincent Mobile Mammography Unit, which takes screenings directly into communities where cost, transportation and time can make access to care more difficult.
The mobile unit served more than 1,800 patients in 2025, including nearly 500 from underserved populations. Ascension St. Vincent provided more than 70,000 mammograms across Indiana last year.
“We’ve seen time and time again how sports can be leveraged for the greater good,” Fever Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Amber Cox said. “It’s a privilege to be able to come alongside the Kay Yow Cancer Fund to help reach even more Hoosiers.”
The Kay Yow Cancer Fund was founded in 2007 by longtime North Carolina State women’s basketball coach Kay Yow, who battled breast cancer for 22 years. The organization has awarded $11.1 million toward cancer research and programs that improve access to care.
Fans attending Friday’s game will find Pink for Purpose activities and photo opportunities throughout Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Two-time Grammy Award winner and breast cancer survivor Sylvia McNair will perform the national anthem.
Fans will also be able to round up concession and retail purchases to support the fundraiser.
