Greensburg volleyball topped Batesville in three sets. Scores were 25-13, 25-23, 25-13.
Batesville and South Ripley split in middle school volleyball. The Bulldogs won the 7th grade game in two sets, while the host Raiders claimed the 8th grade contest in two.
What feels like deja vu for the Batesville girls varsity and JV soccer teams happened last evening after they won by the same scores as the night before. The host Bulldogs shut out Connersville 9-nil. Addie Reding scored four goals for BHS. And its was the Bulldog JVs over the Spartans 3-nil.
Batesville girls golf downed Franklin County 170- 192 at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club. Bulldog Sophomore Stella Maple was medalist with a one-under-34.
Congratulations to the Mid-Indiana Football Conference Players of the Week for Week 1. The offensive player of the week is Simon Barber from North Decatur; Milan’s Kamden Miller is the defensive player of the week; and his Indian teammate, Hayden Poole, takes top honors on special teams.
The San Francisco Giants beat the Cincinnati Reds 3-1 on the West Coast in a game heard late last night on WRBI. Reds starter Brady Singer gave up three runs on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts. He took the loss and is now 5-12. Sal Stewart’s 28th home run of the season, a solo shot to lead off the 9th inning, kept the Reds from being shut out for a second consecutive night. The Reds offense was limited to four hits by Giants pitching. Cincinnati tries to avoid the series sweep this afternoon when lefthander Nick Lodolo (3-3, 5.04 ERA) makes the start. He’ll be opposed by Giants righthander Landen Roupp (7-13, 4.34 ERA). Coverage begins at 3:15 on 103.9 FM.
The Reds have placed relief pitcher Graham Ashcraft on a rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville. He’s been out since late May with an ulnar collateral ligament sprain in his right elbow.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase limped off the field at training camp on Tuesday after coming down awkwardly on his left knee during a drill against cornerback DJ Turner II. Chase later called it a tweak, and said he would be ready to play if there were a game today. He was held out of the rest of Tuesday’s practice walking around without crutches or a limp.
