(Batesville, IN) – The Batesville Police Department is conducting patrols in school zones, following school buses along their routes throughout the school year.
The additional patrols are made possible through funding from the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.
Motorists are encouraged to report unsafe driving around the buses and schools.
Indiana law says you should not pass a school bus that is stopped to load or unload children.
Traffic in both directions on undivided highways must stop when the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended.
All streets and roads in the Batesville area are undivided, and drivers must stop for the stop arm – including the four-late section of State Road 46.
