BHS Girls Soccer Gains Split at G-C

Batesville girls varsity soccer got past host Greenfield-Central 2-1, while the Cougars took the JV contest 1-0.

Varsity contest: Greenfield-Central scored first before Batesville scored both goals in the second half. Elia Wade earned the team a PK, when the other team had a hard tackle in the box. Hailee Weisenbach, stepped up to take the PK and drilled it into the back of the net.

With about three minutes to go and the game tied, Alyssa Cummings slipped Maddie Prewitt a pass on the left side of the field, on top of the 18-box corner. Prewitt took a touch pass a defender and sent a high crossed shot up and over the goalies head for the game winner.

GOALS: Haliee Weisenbach (Junior) and Maddie Prewitt (Senior).

ASSIST: Alyssa Cummings (Sophomore).

Player of the Match: Freshman Elia Wade.

JV match: Early in the game, Greenfield-Central scored off a corner ball, that bobbled ball in the box for an easy tap in and after a hard-fought game, with the blazing sun and high humidity and limited subs, Batesville had some chances, but couldn’t equalize and or walk away with the win.

Player of the Match: Avi Miller.

BHS Varsity and JV travel to Rushville on Thursday. Aug. 20. The varsity match kicks off at 5:30 p.m., followed by one half of JV action.
