(Southeastern IN) – Flooding woes continue around the following this week’s weather events, particularly in hard-hit Franklin County.
Evacuations and water rescues have been taking place along Whitewater River. The National Weather Service says could ultimately be a historic flood.
Low-lying areas along the Whitewater in Laurel, Metamora, Cedar Grove, New Trenton have been impacted, along with West Harrison in Dearborn County and Harrison, Ohio.
Electric outages were reported in and around Brookville Thursday night and into Friday morning.
In addition, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says a number of roads are closed until further notice:

- Ott Road at Laurel Road
- Laurel Road at Stone Church Road
- US 52 at State Road 121/Shack Road
- 24115–24149 Sanes Creek Road
- River Road at Long Hollow Road
- Blue Creek Road at Wolf Creek Road
- Blue Creek Road at Highland Center Road
- State Road 121 at Marshall Street
- Jackson Street
- U.S. 52 @ SR 252
- Barber Road
- U.S. 52 @ Elkhorn Road
- U.S. 52 at Richland Creek
“Please avoid these locations and use alternate routes. Do not drive through standing water, as depth and conditions can be deceptive,” the sheriff’s office says in a statement. “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
