The Cincinnati Reds got past the Athletics 3-2 at Great American Ball Park in a game heard last night on WRBI. Rhett Lowder notched his fourth win of the year and first since April 20. He went six innings, allowed two earned runs on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Emilio Pagan pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his 13th save. Noelvi Marte, Jose Trevino and Matt McLain drove in a run a piece. McLain hit a solo home run in the fifth. The Reds go for the series sweep this afternoon. Andrew Abbott (5-7, 3.91 ERA) starts for the Reds against A’s righthander Mason Barnett (1-1, 4.85 ERA). Coverage on 103.9 FM begins following the Noon News Block.

Before last night’s game, pitcher Hunter Greene, who was scheduled to start today’s matinee, was placed back on the 15-day Injured List with right elbow soreness. Righthanded reliever Luis Mey was recalled from Triple-A Louisville.

The Reds have placed lefthanded starter Nick Lodolo on a rehab assignment with the Louisville Bats. Lodolo has been on the shelf with another blister on his left index finger.

Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell is the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month for July. Mitchell averaged 27.2 points per game and 3 ½ three pointers per contest. She helped the Fever earn an 8 and 2 record in July, including a five-game winning streak to close out the month. It’s the first time in her career Mitchell has won the player of the month award. The Fever returns to Gainbridge Fieldhouse tonight to face the defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
