Barbara Phyllis (Ruth) Nead, 84 years of Dover, IN passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026. Daughter of George William Ruth and Nellie (Jackson) Ruth, Barb was born in Cincinnati on October 4, 1941.
Barb married Jerry, the love of her life, on March 19, 1960 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Yorkville, IN. She was a parishioner at St. John the Baptist in Dover for many years but was most recently a member of Tanner Valley United Methodist Church. Barb made many friends while working at Seagrams Distillery in Lawrenceburg and enjoyed catching up with them over lunch. She also looked forward to monthly lunches with former classmates. Barb always enjoyed her time with family and friends. She liked to travel and took many cruises as well as a trip to Denmark. Always willing to lend a hand, Barb was a great friend who was always there when you needed her.
Barb will be deeply missed by her children Bonnie Weatherford and Tom (Deanna Zimmer) Nead; grandchildren Jason (Stephanie) Weatherford, Rebecca Strasemeier, Kevin (Anna) Weatherford, Dakota (Opie) Nead, Zachary Nead; 7 great grandchildren; sister Janet Bowlin. She is preceded in death by Jerry, her husband of 32 years; son-in-law Brad Weatherford; siblings Kenneth Ruth and Dorothy Schwartz; parents George and Nellie Ruth.
Services for Barb will be held on Friday, August 7 at Andres-Wuestefeld Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00pm – 3:00pm followed by a funeral service at 3:00pm led by Pastor Ginny Hizer at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. Memorials can be made toward Ripley Crossing Activity Fund or Tanner Valley United Methodist Church. Memorials will be accepted at the visitation or can be mailed to the funeral home.
