Batesville girls golf was runner-up at the Union County Invitational in Liberty on Tuesday. The Bulldogs as a team shot 353. Fifth-place Franklin County fired a 372 and seventh-place East Central carded a 484. Batesville sophomore Stella Maple earned individual second place with a two-over-72.
The Cincinnati Reds beat the Athletics 5-4 at Great American Ball Park in a game heard last night on WRBI. Cincinnati trailed 4-3 going into the bottom of the 8th inning and scored two runs on a pair of wild pitches. Elly De La Cruz singled home two runs in the 5th. Brady Singer started but did not figure into the decision. He gave up five hits, three earned runs and walked three while striking out six over six innings. Julian Garcia got the win in relief to square his record at 2-2. Emilio Pagan earned save number 12. Game two of the series is tonight. Rhett Lowder (3-7, 5.42 ERA) starts for the Reds. Lefthander Jacob Lopez (5-4, 5.79 ERA) goes for the A’s. Coverage begins at 6:10 on 103.9 FM.
Before last night’s game, the Reds recalled righthanded pitcher Chase Petty, and called up outfielder Hector Rodriguez, who made his Major League debut last night. Rodriguez, who is considered the Reds number three prospect, started in right field and went 0-for-2 with a walk and run scored.
Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the for the second consecutive week and third time this season. Clark averaged 25.7 points per game; nine assists per contest; five rebounds a game, and shot 53.7 percent from the field in Week 10. Clark’s teammate, Fever center Damiris Dantas, underwent successful surgery on Monday to repair a torn meniscus in her left knee. Dantas will miss the remainder of the 2026 WNBA season.
