(Dearborn/Franklin Counties, IN) – The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-0 tornado touched down in northern Dearborn County and southeastern Franklin County on Saturday evening.
The weather service says the twister was on the ground for 11 minutes, from 6:32 to 6:43 p.m., and started West-Southwest of St. Leon and traveled 5.25 miles before dissipating West-Southwest of Cedar Grove.
Damage was first spotted along Batta Road east of Lawrenceville.
Farm buildings sustained roof damage and a large farm wagon was overturned.
The weather service says the tornado apparently crossed over farm fields, where crops were flattened.
Several large trees were either damaged or snapped on Legion Road.
The tornado continued to the northeast and left behind tree damage along Trackville Road.
In Franklin County, the twister damaged the roof of a single-family home, with barns sustaining roof and wall damage.
The tornado also caused barn and tree damage along Wewe Hill Road before it ended about two miles from Cedar Grove.
The maximum damage path was 90 yards, with maximum winds clocked at 80 mph.
There were no injuries reported.
