(Batesville, IN) – Thirteen area students are received scholarships totaling $56,000 from the Fran and Jean Burst Educational Foundation.
The students were recognized on Monday, July 27, at a reception held in Batesville High School’s Bulldog Room.
Annabelle Nunlist, an Oldenburg Academy graduate and daughter of Susan and Nathan Nunlist, was the featured speaker.
Nunlist told the gathering that the scholarships she has received are helping her achieve her goal to become a speech pathologist.
The other recipients are:
- Austin Balser, who will be studying social studies education, special education and law enforcement at Indiana University Indianapolis; Austin’s parents are Ryan and Amy Balser.
- Calli Fletcher, daughter of Cory and Mara, studies nursing at Mount St. Joseph University.
- Chloe Bohman is the daughter of Greg and Lenee Bohman, and she attends Ivy Tech Community College where she studies elementary education.
- Christian Mack is an Indiana University Bloomington student who studies economics; Peter and Deborah Mack are his parents.
- Ethan Schneider plans to attend Marian University to earn a biomedical degree before entering medical school. Ethan’s parents are Peter and Lisa Schneider.
- Grace Sarringhaus is the daughter of Elton and Shannon Sarringhaus, and she attends the University of Dayton where she is working to become a physician’s assistant.
- Jayne Lamping, daughter of Amanda and Josh Lamping, is planning to attend Good Samaritan College of Nursing to earn a nursing degree.
- Josie Meyer studies civil engineering and sustainability at the University of Dayton. Josie’s parents are Doug and Cortney Meyer.
- Noah Ramsey, son of Adam and Katherine Ramsey, plans to attend Purdue University to study agricultural and biological engineering.
- Rachel Suttman is planning to attend Holy Cross College and earn a degree in biology before pursuing a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences; she is the daughter of Michael and Anne Suttman.
- Sophia Gesell is a student at Trine University where she is majoring in exercise science and physical therapy. Abby and Mike Gesell are Sophia’s parents.
- Veronica King attends Trine Online University and studies business analytics; Veronica’s parents are Robert and Lisa King.
The Fran and Jean Burst Educational Foundation was created to provide college or technical education assistance for Batesville High School and Oldenburg Academy graduates; it also offers scholarships to high school students interested in attending Culver Academy.
Over the past 27 years, the Burst Foundation has awarded scholarships totaling $659,000.
