(Dearborn County) – The Dearborn County Emergency Management Agency is asking for damage reports after a possible tornado touchdown in the area of Trackville Road between I-74 and the Dearborn/Franklin County line on Saturday evening.
Anyone who sustained damage to structures on their property is asked to message Dearborn County EMA on Facebook or call dispatch at (812) 537-3431.
The agency is also addressing concerns that the county did not issue alerts for a possible tornado through phone notifications or activation of outdoor sirens.
“These systems activate automatically for Dearborn County when a tornado warning is issued by The National Weather Service. This system can also be manually activated if a trained first responder sees a tornado. Neither of these conditions were met last (Saturday) night,” Dearborn County EMA wrote on social media. “This is the graphic (pictured) showing the warning polygon issued by The National Weather Service. As you can see, Dearborn County was not included the polygon.”
