(Batesville, IN) – Drivers should prepare for delays and lane restrictions along State Road 46 as a paving and traffic improvement project moves through Batesville.
Work is scheduled to begin Sunday evening, August 2, and continue through Tuesday, August 11, weather permitting.
TRAFFIC ALERT
Most daily operations will begin around 6:30 a.m. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes whenever possible.
Multiple flaggers will be stationed throughout the work zones to direct traffic. Motorists should remain alert for changing traffic patterns, stopped vehicles and construction trucks turning around within the work areas.
What comes after paving?
Once paving is complete, subcontractors will begin grooving the roadway and installing new pavement markings. The work will include stop bars, directional arrows, crosswalks and raised pavement markers.
Much of that work will be completed as a rolling operation, but drivers could encounter localized delays while crews finish detailed markings.
Final phase: Traffic subcontractors will move from intersection to intersection to complete detector housings and traffic loops. Lane closures will be required at each signalized intersection.
Officials said the schedule is weather-dependent and could change.
