Carmen Kay (née Davis) Nunlist, 80, of Batesville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
She was born on March 22, 1946, in Batesville, Indiana, to Robert Davis Sr. and Dorothy (née Libre) Davis.
Carmen spent many years working at Hillenbrand’s Casket, where she was known for her strong work ethic and kind heart. She retired at the age of 55 and devoted the rest of her life to what she loved most—her family, her hobbies, her beloved dogs, and making her house a home.
A woman of many talents, Carmen found joy in quilting, sewing, and losing herself in a good book. She especially loved the holidays and took great pleasure in decorating for every season.
Above all, Carmen’s greatest joy was her family. She treasured every moment spent with them, and the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in their hearts. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her creativity, and the quiet kindness she shared with everyone who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy remains in the family she cherished and the countless memories they will always hold close.
Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorothy Davis; her sons, Scott Lindewald and John Bevis; and her brothers, Robert Davis Jr., Reggie Davis, and Johnie Davis.
She is survived by her daughters, Lori Miller and Angela Brummett; seven grandchildren: Megan, Holli, Jesse, Stephanie, Brittany, Kyla, and Drew; and eleven great-grandchildren: Mason, Matthew, Bradley, Zoey, Luke, Kane, Charlotte, Carter, Evelyn, Liam, and Peyton.
Close friends and family will gather for visitation on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at United Methodist Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ripley County Humane Society.
