(Morris, IN) – A Batesville area man is facing several charges following a domestic incident involving a firearm early Saturday morning.
The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office says deputies and Batesville Police officers responded to a home on the 5,000 block of East State Road 46 in Morris around 4:57 a.m. on a report of a physical altercation.
Investigators say 21-year-old Trenton Kincade was identified as the suspect.
A deputy asked for consent to search the residence for the firearm believed to be involved in the incident.
After consent was denied, another deputy applied for and obtained a search warrant.
During execution of that warrant, the sheriff’s office says one of the deputies found a Glock 17 Gen 5 handgun in Kincade’s bedroom.
Kincade was arrested and taken to the Ripley County Jail on preliminary charges of Criminal Confinement with a Deadly Weapon and Domestic Battery (Level 3 felony); Domestic Battery with a Deadly Weapon; Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon, and Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon (all Level 5 felonies).
Authorities say these are preliminary charges based on the investigation; formal charges will be determined by the Ripley County Prosecutor’s Office.
The investigation is ongoing.
