(Decatur/Franklin Counties, IN) – We now know more about last Wednesday evening’s two-county police chase and manhunt.
The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office says Deputy Gabrielle Shoemaker and Corporal Logan Wilder spotted a Chevrolet Traverse going north on the State Road 3/State Road 46 Bypass being driven by 57-year-old Timothy Wolfe, whose license was suspended.
The deputies initiated a traffic stop but Wolfe allegedly did not pull over.
After reaching speeds of 106 mph, the vehicle continued north on the Bypass, and turned south onto Lincoln Street in Greensburg, where Stop Sticks were deployed, but Wolfe was able to avoid them.
The sheriff’s office says Wolfe continued south on Lincoln, ignored red stop lights, and turned east onto State Road 46 (Main Street).
The pursuit continued on 46 into Franklin County before ending in the Batesville city limits east of Three Mile Road.
Investigators say Wolfe got out of his vehicle and ran into a wooded area near a cornfield.
Law enforcement was unable to locate Wolfe following a massive search that involved K-9s, drones and an Indiana State Police helicopter.
Batesville Police officers located Wolfe the next morning and took him into custody in the area where he bailed from his vehicle.
Wolfe is charged with Resisting Law Enforcement; Possession of Cocaine or a Narcotic Drug (both Level 6 felonies); Possession of Marijuana; Driving While Suspended – Prior (both Class A misdemeanors), and Reckless Driving (Class C misdemeanor).
In addition to the Batesville Police Department and Indiana State Police, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office is thanking Decatur County Communications; the Greensburg Police Department, and Indiana Department of Natural Resources for their assistance during the pursuit and in locating Wolfe.
