Corey Heim took the checkered flag at NASCAR’s Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway heard yesterday on WRBI. Heim held off Christopher Bell and three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano in the closing laps for his second career victory.
The Cincinnati Reds outlasted the St. Louis Cardinals 5-3 in 10 innings to take the rubber match of the three-game series yesterday at Busch Stadium. Sal Stewart and Nathaniel Lowe’s RBI singles in the extra frame won it for the Reds. Elly De La Cruz and Ke’Bryan Hayes both hit solo home runs for Cincinnati. Andrew Abbott started and went six innings, giving up three hits, two earned runs, and four walks while striking out four. Brock Burke got the win in relief to even his record at 4-4. Julian Garcia notched the first save of his Major League career. Cincinnati comes out of the All-Star Break winning all three series on the nine-game road trip to finish at 6-3. The Reds kick off a 10-game homestand with the first of three tonight against the Cleveland Guardians. All-Star righthander Chase Burns (12-1, 2.42 ERA) makes the start for Cincinnati. Spencer Steer exited yesterday’s game in the middle of an at-bat in the 5th inning with right wrist pain after taking a swing and lunging at a pitch. Steer will be examined today to determine the extent of his injury.
The Cincinnati Bengals have placed defensive tackle B.J. Hill on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list. The team also placed tight end Josh Kattus on the Active/Non-Football Injury list.
Girls flag football is one step closer to becoming an official high school sport in Indiana. The IHSAA and Indianapolis Colts have announced that 108 high schools plan to field teams during the 2026-27 school year. That tops the 100-school minimum required for IHSAA sanctioning. The IHSAA will now consider making girls flag football an officially sanctioned sport.
