(Batesville, IN) – State Road 46 in Batesville was shut down between Three Mile Road and Columbus for several hours Wednesday night for a manhunt that was preceded by a police chase.
The pursuit began around 6:38 p.m. at West State Road 46 and County Road 450 West in Decatur County, but it wasn’t clear as of Thursday morning why the suspect identified as Timothy Wolfe was being chased.
Law enforcement asked the public to be on the lookout for Wolfe, who reportedly fled on foot near Lake of the Woods following the pursuit, which ended in a crash.
An Indiana State Police helicopter was called to in to assist in the manhunt.
Authorities say Wolfe was shirtless and wearing shorts at the time, and has tattoos.
They issued a BOLO (“Be on the lookout”) and urged the public not to approach Wolfe, and to call 9-1-1 if you spot him.
State Road 46 between Three Mile Road and Columbus Avenue reopened around 11 p.m.
