(Milan, IN) – The Milan Town Marshal is being credited with saving a life when an apartment on Maple Street caught fire yesterday morning.
The Milan Volunteer Fire Department says there was a report that someone was still inside, and Marshal Terry Wilson made his way into the apartment prior to firefighters arriving and pulled a person to safety.
There’s no word on the victim’s condition.
“Due to his heroic actions a life was saved today,” reads a statement from Milan firefighters. “We would like to thank Marshal Wilson for his selfless act of courage. The outcome of today’s event is now better because of him.”
The fire broke out in the back bedroom of a unit in the complex, but it’s not clear what touched off the flames.
Crews brought the fire under control shortly after arriving.
The Delaware Community Volunteer Fire Department provided mutual aid.
Also assisting were the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, Ripley County EMS, and Ripley County Communications.
