The American League shut out the National League 4-0 in Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game last night in Philadelphia. The AL scored three runs in the top of the 1st inning, highlighted by Cody Bellinger’s two-run single. The New York Yankees outfielder was named the All-Star Game MVP. Reds infielder Sal Stewart went 0-for-1 with a walk in the 7th. Stewart grounded out for the game’s final out. The Reds begin the so-called second half of the season Friday night in Colorado.

The Indiana Pacers take on the Minnesota Timberwolves in NBA Summer League play this afternoon in Las Vegas. Indiana is 1-2 heading into the contest. Tipoff in Sin City is at 3:30.

Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell is the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week. Mitchell averaged 28 points per game and helped lead the Fever to a 3-1 record last week during a four-game road trip that included two wins over the reigning champion Las Vegas Aces and one over the Phoenix Mercury. This is the fifth time in her career Mitchell has won Player of the Week honors…

Meanwhile, the Fever opens a four-game homestand tonight against the Golden State Valkyries. Indiana is 14-9 and leads the Eastern Conference by a half game over Atlanta. The Fever have won four of their last five games. The Valkyries have won a franchise-record seven straight. Tipoff in downtown Indy is at 8 p.m.
