
Ms. Pamela A. “Pam” Merrill, age 80, formerly of Rising Sun, Indiana, entered this life on September 7, 1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Harold Jamison and Margaret “Pud” (Pickett) Merrill. She was raised in North Vernon, Indiana and was a 1963 graduate of the North Vernon Junior Senior High School. Pam received her bachelor of science degree in physical education in 1967 from Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana. She later received her master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio and was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. Pam was a dedicated educator, serving as a physical education, health, and driver’s education teacher at Aurora High School from 1967 until her retirement in 1995. Pam was a former slot attendant for Grand Victoria Casino in Rising Sun, Indiana, for a few years. She was baptized at First Baptist Church in North Vernon, Indiana. Pam enjoyed gardening, playing the piano, tennis, and golf. She was also an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, IU Basketball, Indianapolis Colts, and the Denver Broncos. Pam had a special place in her heart for the many dogs and cats she lovingly cared for throughout the years. Pam passed away at 6:10 p.m., Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Ripley Crossing in Milan, Indiana.
Pam is survived by her nephew, Justin Smith and his wife, Sara of Milan, IN; her niece, Laren Smith and her husband, Walter Jr. of Aurora, IN; and her great-nieces and nephew, Loki Smith, Chandler Pigmon, and Lorelai Pigmon.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Jamison Merrill, died November 13, 2010; and her mother, Margaret “Pud” (Pickett) Merrill, died May 30, 2011.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 18, 2026, by Rev. Mike Jones, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
