William Gray ‘Bill’ Marr Sr., age 88, of Okeechobee, Florida and a former long time Brookville resident died Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at his residence in Florida following a lengthy illness.
Born May 2, 1938 in Hyman, Kentucky he was the son of the late Aubrey & Verlene (McCushton) Marr. On September 30, 1969 he was united in marriage to the former Shirley Schmid, and she survives.
Bill was retired, having worked for many years in construction and had also been a truck driver. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his family.
He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Okeechobee, Florida.
Besides Shirley, his loving wife of 57 years, survivors include seven children, LeeAnne (Ron) Precht of Laurel, Indiana, Sandra (George) Boggs of Brookville, Indiana, Gray (Rhonda) Marr of Brookville, Indiana, Steve (Kim) Roemer of Brookville, Indiana, Rose (Ray) Boggs of Metamora, Indiana, Sheila (Buddy) Crank of Laurel, Indiana, special son, Ron Lockhart; one sister, Rachel Thomason of Murray, Kentucky; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Scott Roemer, who died February 14, 2022.
Family & friends may visit from 3 until 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Ave., Brookville.
Rev. Roy VanWinkle will officiate the Funeral Service on Thursday, July 16, 2026, 6:00 P.M. at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home.
