The Decatur County Fair gets underway today, kicking off a week of exhibits, competitions, carnival rides and grandstand entertainment through Wednesday.
The day begins with the Arts Council’s Art on the Square Show and entries for the Quick Bread Contest from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Farm and Home Building. Quick Bread judging starts at 1 p.m.
The 4-H Buildings open to the public from 4 until 10 p.m., giving fairgoers their first chance to see this year’s projects and exhibits.
This evening’s events begin at 5:30 with the Certificate of Distinction Presentation in the Community Building. The 2026 4-H Royalty will be crowned at 6 p.m., followed by the Public Speaking and Verbal Communications Contest at 6:30.
The midway also opens at 6 p.m. with Luehrs Ideal Rides’ “Thrifty Thursday,” where every ride costs just one ticket.
The spotlight tonight is on the Wolff Bros ATV Drags. Grandstand gates open at 3:30 p.m., with racing set to begin at 7. Admission is $10 for the grandstand, $20 for the pit area, and children 5 and under get in free.
