Denzil “Bud” Eugene Grow, age 89, of Napoleon, passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 6, 2026.
Bud was born on November 5, 1936, on his grandmother Weber’s farm in southern Decatur County. He was the son of the late Denzil and Nellie (Weber) Grow. He cherished his childhood summers working on the family farm alongside his uncle, Norman Weber, where he developed the strong work ethic and love of farming that remained with him throughout his life.
A proud graduate of Napoleon High School, Class of 1954, Bud later served his country with honor in the United States Army from 1959 to 1961.
Bud began his working career at Union Furniture Company, where he worked for seven years, followed by 16 years at Cummins. His greatest professional joy came when he fulfilled his dream of owning and operating his own semi-truck for 20 years. For the last 10 of those years, he and his beloved wife, Patty, worked side by side, driving together and delivering produce throughout the region. They treasured the time they spent together on the road.
On July 30, 1983, Bud married Patricia “Patty” (Wampler). Together they shared 43 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, faith, friendship, and family. They were not only husband and wife but truly best friends.
Bud is survived by his loving wife, Patty Grow; his son, Mark Grow (Megan Evans); his sister, Elaine Simmons; his grandsons, Jesse Grow and Luke (Brianna) Grow; his granddaughter, Maggie (Brandon) Jeffries; two cherished great-granddaughters and six brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Denzil and Nellie Grow; his daughter, Rinda Grow; his father-in-law and mother-in-law; his brothers-in-law, Bob Simmons, Kenton Robinson, and Joe Naughgles; his nephews, Jeremy Martin and Leland Naughgles; and his niece, Christy Reed.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Neal’s Funeral Home with Dennis Werner officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Napoleon.
