(Lawrenceville, IN) – We now know the names of the persons involved in a deadly wreck last Friday morning in northern Dearborn County.
Indiana State Police say 87-year-old George Dever of Sunman man was killed and a passenger in his vehicle was seriously injured in the two-vehicle crash on State Road 46 in Lawrenceville.
Troopers say the initial investigation determined that Dever’s 2018 Dodge Caravan was northbound on Lawrenceville Road at State Road 46 around 8 a.m., when his minivan pulled onto 46 and into the path of a 2021 Ford F-450 driven by 18-year-old Wyatt Kruthaupt of Batesville.
ISP says the front of Kruthaupt’s pickup truck hit the driver’s side of Dever’s vehicle.
Dever was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in his vehicle, 66-year-old James Sterwerf of Milan, was seriously injured and flown by medical helicopter to the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing, and toxicology results are pending.
