Phyllis Jeanette (Bessler) Quiroz, 68

Phyllis Jeanette (Bessler) Quiroz was born September 23, 1957 to Clem J and Alvina F (Ritzi) Bessler in Batesville Indiana. Phyllis was the youngest of five siblings. She attended Holy Family Primary School & Batesville Junior High. Then went on to Graduate from Immaculate Conception Academy, Oldenburg Indiana, class of 1975. Later she earned her Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and worked many years in Human Resources. Phyllis was a fun loving, always positive woman. She was a “take charge” kind of person which helped her advance in her career and was always an asset to her employers. Her smile was her secret weapon to win you over. She was a loving and helpful soul always ready to lend a hand. She was the family organizer, always planning gatherings, feeding family and friends. Her hobbies were playing cards, win or lose, she had fun. She also enjoyed antiques, Butter Molds, Purses & Bells. Hunting them was the most fun part. She was always game for “the hunt”. In later years she enjoyed games on her iPad and watching old westerns, John Wayne was her hero; also old reruns of many other TV shows. Phyllis married the love of her life Ray Quiroz on September 4, 1999, and they enjoyed 26 wonderful years together.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Phyllis survived by her husband, Ray; sisters, Sandy J (Jim) Werner, Bonnie K Bessler, Janie M (Don) Obermeyer, all from Batesville; and one brother Michael J (Linda) Bessler from Baraboo, Wisconsin. Her father-in-law Ray Sr. (Margarita) Quiroz; sisters in law; Sandy (Devin) Cronin and Natalie Yarka Payton; brother-in-law Dan (Laura) Quiroz; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Jane Seelig. As well as, her special adopted God daughter, Katie Wesolowski.
Her cancer struggle is over, but she fought a mighty battle. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg, IN on July 29, 2026 starting at 11am until time of service at 1pm. Pastor Tyler Lawrence will be officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Joseph Indian School of Chamberlain, South Dakota or Arthur and Ruth Browne St. Vincent House of Indianapolis, Indiana.
