Jay Joseph Thompson, 65, Sunman

Jay Joseph Thompson, 65, of Sunman, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

Born on May 2, 1961, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of William Eugene and Virginia Marie (Danzinger) Thompson.

Jay graduated from Milan High School and spent many years working in HVAC and construction. A true Indiana boy at heart, Jay cherished the outdoors and found joy in the simple pleasures of country life.

He loved fishing, gardening, and working on cars. A longtime member of St. Pius Catholic Church, he lived a life grounded in faith, hard work, and appreciation for nature.

Jay is survived by his sons, Sam Thompson and Michael Thompson; his daughter, Maria Thompson; his granddaughter, Delilah; his sister, Debbie Hogan-Thompson; his brothers, Bill Thompson and Ron Thompson; his niece, Lauren Thompson; and his nephew, Joel Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Michael Thompson, and his brother-in-law Pat Hogan.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Pastor Shawn Crisman will officiate.
