WRBI, St. Louis Team Up for Blood Drive

(Batesville, IN) – 103.9 WRBI and St. Louis Catholic Church are teaming up for the 24th annual blood drive tomorrow afternoon(Wednesday, June 24).

Donations will be taken in the St. Louis activity center between Noon and 2:15, and from 3:30 to 5:45.

Ashley Smith with Hoxworth on a recent episode of WRBI’s The Daily Pod said blood donations tend to drop this time of year, which she says is considered trauma season.

“Because unfortunately, while people are out and about, they’re traveling more, they’re maybe engaging in those more high-risk activities, whether it’s out on an ATV that can lead to some sort of an incident or accident that ends up needing a blood transfusion for that patient,” Smith said. “Or they’re just traveling and accidents can happen on our highways at this time of year.”

Everyone who rolls up their sleeves at the blood drive will receive a USA jersey.

“This, of course, is with the World Cup in mind, but also with America’s 250th birthday, all to celebrate this summer,” Smith added. “So, you’re going to get that and of course, at the end of the day, saving lives close to home at more than 30 local hospitals that Hoxworth serves.”
