Mr. Raymond Leroy “Pete” McCreary

Mr. Raymond Leroy “Pete” McCreary, age 82, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on October 13, 1943 in Bear Branch, Indiana. He was raised in Bear Branch, Indiana and was a 1961 graduate of the Rising Sun High School. Pete was united in marriage to Brenda Carol Coffey on May 29, 1969 in Vevay, Indiana. This happy union was blessed with a daughter, Melissa. Pete was employed for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana, and for Seagram’s Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. He was also employed for the Switzerland County Highway Department, the Plastic Molding Factory in East Enterprise, Indiana, and as a bartender. He later worked in security for Belterra Casino & Resort in Florence, Indiana. Pete was a former member of the Switzerland Masonic Lodge #122 F&AM. Pete enjoyed golfing, fishing, baking, collecting coins, and playing cards, especially euchre. He loved driving around town in his golf cart gathering pecans for baking bread and pies. He also loved turtle hunting and hosting his yearly turtle fry. Pete passed away at 4:20 p.m., Sunday, June 21, 2026, at his residence in Vevay, Indiana.

Pete is survived by his wife, Brenda Carol (Coffey) McCreary of Vevay, IN; his daughter, Melissa McCreary of Aurora, IN; his granddaughter, Katelyn McCreary of Aurora, IN; his sisters, Mary Ann Bowling of Rising Sun, IN, and Helen Hasler of Versailles, IN; and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James N. McCreary, died September 28, 1976; his mother, Esther Mary (Whitman) McCreary, died October 16, 1989; his brother, Charles McCreary, died September 28, 1997; and his brothers-in-law, Alonzo Bowling, died March 14, 2012, and Floyd Hasler, died July 8, 2019.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2026 in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
