The New York Yankees shut out the Reds 5-0 in the series opener at Yankee Stadium heard last night on WRBI. The Yankees scored four times in the 2nd inning. Jazz Chisholm clubbed a solo home run and Ben Rice added a three-run bomb off Rhett Lowder. New York tacked on the final run in the 8th. Lowder took the loss and is now 3-4. Yankees starter Cam Schlittler struck out 13 Reds over six innings. The Reds will try to even the series this afternoon. Andrew Abbott (4-4, 3.95 ERA) makes the start for Cincinnati. Righthander Will Warren (7-1, 3.47 ERA) goes for the Bronx Bombers. Coverage begins at 1:05 on 103.9 FM.

Before last night’s game, the Reds placed shortstop Elly De La Cruz on a rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville. He’s been recovering from a right hamstring strain.

The Indiana Fever visit the Atlanta Dream in WNBA action this afternoon. It’s the second half of a home-and-home series. Atlanta won Thursday night’s game in Indy 108-101. Tipoff is at 1 p.m.

IndyCar is in Wisconsin for tomorrow’s Grand Prix of Road America. Series points leader Alex Palou is the defending champ. The green flag drops at 2 p.m. tomorrow.
