(Friendship, IN) – No one was injured in a house fire on the 3800 block of East Olean Road in the Friendship area on Wednesday evening.

Crews arriving on the scene around 8:13 p.m. found the homeowner successfully knocked down the flames that burned the back of the home.

The fire caused damage to the siding and deck.

The Friendship Volunteer Fire Department says it appears the flames were ignited by a bird’s nest in a porch light.

Firefighters say this should serve as a reminder to check your outdoor lights, particularly on your porch since birds like to made nests there.

Versailles Fire Rescue and Ripley County EMS were also dispatched but were told to disregard once the situation was brought under control.
