
(Aurora, IN) – The South Dearborn Community School Corporation has named its new administrative team at South Dearborn Middle School (SDMS).
Grant Schiering is the new Principal, and Daniel Fix has been appointed Assistant Principal.
Schiering served as SDMS Assistant Principal for the past three-and-a-half years.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in education with a specialization in integrated social studies from Miami University and later completed his master’s degree in educational administration at Indiana State University.
Schiering began his career in education as an instructional assistant at Sunman-Dearborn Intermediate School (now East Central Middle School) before accepting a teaching position at East Central High School.
During his nine years at East Central, Schiering taught World History, Psychology, and U.S. Government while also dedicating countless hours to coaching and student activities. His involvement included coaching basketball, football, track, and softball, as well as serving as co-sponsor of Student Council and the Senior Class.
In 2020, Schiering transitioned into school administration, serving as a part-time Dean of Students at East Central Middle School while continuing to teach at East Central High School.
He became the full-time Dean of Students in 2022 before joining South Dearborn Middle School as Assistant Principal in January 2023.
“Grant has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to our students, staff, and families,” said Superintendent Dr. Ron Ross. “His leadership, dedication to building relationships, and focus on creating a positive school culture have made a lasting impact at South Dearborn Middle School. We are confident that he is ready to take the reins and lead SDMS to new heights.”

Fix is a graduate of South Ripley High School.
He continued his education at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Health Education.
After five years in the classroom, he pursued and completed a master’s degree in Educational Leadership in preparation for a a career in school administration.
Fix spent the past 11 years at Milan Community Schools, where he taught elementary swimming and physical education, as well as middle school health and physical education.
Outside the classroom, he coached track and field, swimming, and soccer.
“Daniel’s passion for students, his leadership experience, and his commitment to building meaningful relationships make him an outstanding addition to our administrative team,” said Dr. Ross. “He understands the importance of creating a positive school culture where students feel supported and challenged to achieve their best. We are excited to welcome him to South Dearborn and
look forward to the impact he will have on our middle school.”

Fix and his wife have two children. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, playing board games, participating in sports, running, fishing, and cheering on the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers.
