BHS’ Moody Advances to State Golf Finals

Batesville finished sixth at the IHSAA Regional at Champions Pointe Golf Club in Henryville Thursday evening, just seven strokes from advancing to the state finals as a team.

As a team, the Bulldogs shot a 316.

However, for the first time in school history, the Batesville boys golf team is home to an IHSAA Regional Champion in senior Jon Moody, who took home first place individually with a one under par 71.

Moody will be the first representative of the Bulldog boys golf program at the IHSAA State Finals since 2007.

He will tee off in the IHSAA Golf State Finals on Tuesday, June 16 and Wednesday, June 17 at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel.

Other individual scores for BHS were Ian Hixson with a 78; Landon Raver carded a 80; Caleb Laker fired an 87, and Cooper Phebus shot a 93.

Also moving on to the state finals along with Moody are Eli Casey of Providence (72) and Corydon Central’s Evan Bennett (74).

Teams advancing to the state finals are first place Center Grove (298); runner-up Franklin (308), and third place Floyd Central (309).
